Buying a used bike - is this a good deal? Here is a forum in which you can ask for and discuss used bike purchase questions like: Is the price reasonable? What else should I ask for? Can the seller REALLY have just installed a NEW stator on this 28 year old bike I'm thinking of buying?
What this forum is NOT for is listing YOUR bike for sale. |

Improve your skills Yep, parking lot practice is fundamental. But some of you have found other ways and may be willing to share here.
NOTE: The first time somebody posts a HOW TO DO A WHEELIE OR STOPPIE post this forum goes away. |

Preventative Maintenance Some kinds of maintenance (most, actually) should be done by trained professionals. But there are lots of things you can do for yourself. Here you can share the how to's with our other members. |

Quadratic Equation Solver Whenever you can reduce an equation so that it takes on the following standard form:
Ax2 + Bx + C = 0
then you can use the quadratic equation solver to solve it. Note, there are ALWAYS two correct solutions for x! |

Skid Distance To Stop Sometimes you just want to calculate how long a skid mark will be given a starting speed, the Drag factor components, and the assumption that you come to a complete stop without falling over or colliding with something. |

Speed From Stopping Distance Calculator Used to compute how fast a vehicle is traveling at the start of a known stopping distance. It assumes that all braking is done with a constant deceleration rate (such as would generally be the case if skidding). It also allows you to include PDR (Perception-Decision-Reaction) time, if any. |

Speed Scrubbed During Skid It is not intuitive, but skid marks do not represent speed. Instead, they represent energy transformation. That is, they represent the amount of kinetic energy that was converted to heat. This model calculates the amount of speed that is scrubbed during a skid based on the starting speed and drag factors. |

Stopping Distance Calculator This model calculates the fastest possible non-skid stop time and distance given Speed, Grade, Coefficient of Friction, and Braking Efficiency. It also calculates the maximum decelerate rate possible given the height of the CG, length of Wheelbase, and weight distribution. |

Vault Speed Calculator This model will calculate the speed an object (such as a motorcyclist) is launch at (in other words, the motorcyclist's speed at time of impact) given you know how far it is thrown, the difference in height between launch point and impact point, and the launch angle. |

Lean Angle Calculator This model will calculate the lean angle of the CG of your bike given Speed and Radius. Given the width of your front tire it will also calculate the actual lean angle of the bike. Finally, it will calculate the maximum cornering speed that is possible with your bike. |

Speed Calculator This simple model calculates your motorcycle speed given the rear tire radius, final gear ratio, and engine RPM. Note that though you have to input seven values with this model, if you merely combined this model with two others (Rear Wheel Radius, and Gearing) you wouldn't need to enter anything. |
